Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service.
• You must be legally permitted to access the Service and its content where you live.
• We may require reasonable age or eligibility checks.

2. Accounts

• You may sign in using Google, Discord, Twitch, or a magic-link email.
• You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
• You are responsible for activity performed through your account and for keeping access credentials secure.
• You must not sell, share, transfer, or allow another person to use your account.
• We may suspend or restrict accounts when necessary to protect users, the Service, or comply with law.

3. Nature of the Service and AI Disclaimer

Stranger AI provides random conversations with fictional AI-generated personalities. Personalities are not humans, professional advisers, or emergency services. Their statements, emotions, memories, opinions, and media are generated or simulated and may be inaccurate, offensive, inconsistent, or unexpected.

• Do not rely on the Service for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, or other professional advice.
• Do not use the Service as a substitute for emergency services or qualified mental-health support.
• AI outputs do not represent the views of Stranger AI.
• We do not guarantee that generated content is unique, accurate, available, or free of third-party rights.
• AI providers, models, and product capabilities may be added, removed, or replaced over time.

4. Adult Content

The Service is SFW by default. Adult users may choose to enable an optional adult-content mode where legally permitted.

The following content is prohibited in every mode:

• Sexual content involving or depicting minors, including fictional minors
• Child sexual abuse material, grooming, exploitation, or sexualization of minors
• Non-consensual sexual content, sexual violence, or intimate content involving a real person without consent
• Real-person sexual impersonation or deceptive deepfakes
• Content that promotes trafficking, exploitation, terrorism, self-harm, or other illegal activity

We may remove prohibited content, terminate accounts, preserve evidence, and report conduct when required by law.

5. Acceptable Use

You must not:

• Use the Service unlawfully, fraudulently, or to harm, threaten, harass, exploit, or deceive another person
• Submit personal or confidential information about another person without a lawful basis and their permission
• Attempt to bypass moderation, age restrictions, rate limits, access controls, or technical safeguards
• Probe, disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, or automate access to the Service without written permission
• Upload malware, exploit vulnerabilities, or interfere with the operation of the Service
• Use generated content to impersonate, defame, or violate the rights of another person
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our written permission

6. Conversations and Generated Content

• We may store conversation text and translations so the Service works and conversations remain available to you.
• We do not store raw webcam frames or recordings of your voice. Camera mode sends up to five compressed frames for transient AI analysis with a turn.
• We do not read conversations unless you explicitly ask for support and grant us access to specific messages.
• You can permanently delete your conversations and all other personal data by deleting your account from your profile.
• Deleted personal data cannot be recovered.

7. Generated Content and Open Use

You may use content generated for you for any lawful purpose. Stranger AI does not claim exclusive rights over generated content. When generated content is shared publicly, anyone may use, share, modify, or redistribute it, subject to applicable law and third-party rights. We do not guarantee that generated content is unique.

8. Plans, Usage Limits, and Payments

• Free accounts include text chat and generated images with a small daily usage allowance. Premium plans add a monthly usage allowance that scales with the plan, plus voice input, voice replies, and persona-initiated messages. Current prices (plus applicable taxes) are always shown on the subscription page before purchase.
• Monthly usage allowances reset each billing period and do not roll over. Plan changes are prorated: upgrades charge the difference immediately, downgrades credit the unused difference toward future invoices.
• We may throttle, pause, or limit free usage at any time (for example during periods of heavy traffic) and may adjust plans, prices, allowances, and limits for future billing periods with notice.
• Prices, included usage, taxes, and payment terms are shown before purchase.
• Payments are processed by Stripe; its terms and privacy policy apply to payment processing.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the current billing period ends.
• You may cancel at any time and retain access until the end of the current billing period.
• Partial billing periods are not refunded, except where a refund is required by applicable law.
• Stranger AI does not store your full payment-card details.

9. EU Right of Withdrawal

EU consumers may have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. Where you request immediate performance of a paid digital service or delivery of digital content, we may ask for your prior express consent and acknowledgement of any resulting loss of the withdrawal right, as required by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms removes rights that cannot legally be waived.

10. Moderation and Enforcement

We use automated systems to detect abuse and enforce these Terms. When a violation is reliably detected, enforcement decisions may be reviewed by authorized personnel. Enforcement may include warnings, restrictions, suspension, termination, and reports to competent authorities.

11. Account Termination, Bans, and Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated personal data at any time from your profile. This deletion cannot be recovered. Limited financial records required by law, anonymous aggregate statistics, and non-content generation metadata may remain. We may suspend, ban, or terminate access for a material breach of these Terms or where required to protect the Service or others. A banned account loses access to the Service; any active subscription is cancelled, and the banned user may still log out or delete their account. Ban records (email and IP) are retained to enforce the ban.

12. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third parties for hosting, authentication, databases, storage, payments, and AI processing. This includes Supabase for authentication and database hosting, and Google, Discord, or Twitch for optional OAuth sign-in. Their own terms and policies may apply to their processing. We may replace providers when necessary to operate or improve the Service.

13. Availability and Changes

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation. We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue all or part of the Service, including personalities, models, plans, and features.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stranger AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, or for lost data, revenue, profits, or opportunities resulting from use of the Service. Our total liability for claims relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by French law, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections available in their country of residence. Any dispute will be handled by the competent courts determined under applicable law. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version and, where required, provide additional notice or request renewed acceptance.
